Wire cut EDM vs Conventional EDM

Working Principle of Electrical Discharge Machining

EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is a method through which metal is removed by using an electrical spark, the temperature at which this removal happens is around 8000 to 12000 degrees Celsius. In this process, spark always takes place in the dielectric of deionized water. In this distilled water is used so that its conductivity is controlled, making an excellent environment for the process.

Working Principle of Wire Electrical Discharge Machining

The only difference between the conventional EDM and this one is that in the wire EDM, the wire is charged to the desired voltage, there is no contact between the wire and the workpiece creating no stresses in the wire and the work-piece, also the wire is surrounded by the deionized water which helps the small particles to flushes away from the space.
